Questions worth answering.

Getting started

How many do I take, and when?

One daily dose, taken with food and water. Taking it alongside a meal helps absorption and is gentler on a sensitive stomach. Pick a time of day that is easy to remember and stick with it — consistency matters more than the exact hour.

How long until I notice a difference?

A daily prenatal works quietly in the background — it supports your nutritional status over weeks and months rather than producing an overnight effect. The most important thing is taking it consistently. If you have specific symptoms or concerns, your doctor is the best person to guide what to expect for you.

Do I need a prescription to buy?

No. Our formulas are nutritional supplements and do not require a prescription. That said, pregnancy and breastfeeding are a good time to keep your doctor in the loop on everything you are taking, so your overall intake stays balanced and right for you.

When is the best time to start taking it?

As early as you can. Ideally from the moment you start trying to conceive, since the nutrients that matter most for early development are needed before many people even know they are pregnant. If you are already pregnant, starting now is exactly right — it is never too late to give your body better support.

Choosing your formula

What if I'm just starting to try for a baby?

The nutrients that matter most for early development are needed before many people know they are pregnant — so starting our Pregnancy formula as soon as you begin trying is exactly right. A dedicated Preconception formula is on the way; until then, Prenatal Core is the right foundation.

Can I take more than one together?

Yes — our formulas are designed to work alongside each other. A common pairing is the core formula for your stage plus a targeted add-on (for example, Prenatal Core with Choline, or Postnatal Core with Aquamin Calcium). The doses are calibrated so they complement rather than overlap. If you are already taking prescribed supplements, check with your doctor so your overall intake stays balanced.

How do I know which formula is right for me?

Start with where you are. Pregnancy is our prenatal foundation; Postpartum is built for recovery and breastfeeding. Within each stage you can add a targeted formula — like Choline for your baby's brain development, or Aquamin Calcium to protect your reserves while nursing. If you are still unsure, write to us and a member of our team will point you to the right starting place.

Our formulas & ingredients

Why are doses calibrated for Indian women specifically?

Most global prenatal supplements are formulated against Western RDAs — built around populations with different dietary patterns, deficiency profiles, and body compositions. Indian women are consistently more deficient in specific nutrients (Vitamin D, B12, Iron, Iodine) and face distinct nutritional risks including higher MTHFR prevalence, gestational diabetes rates, and widespread vegetarian or plant-heavy diets. We used ICMR-NIN guidelines as our reference, not borrowed numbers from a different context.

Why is Inositol only in the Prenatal formula?

Myoinositol's clinical role is most pronounced in the preconception and early pregnancy period — supporting hormonal balance, insulin sensitivity, and egg quality. Its relevance decreases significantly after delivery. Including it in the Postnatal formula would mean adding an ingredient without a defined role in that phase, which runs against our formulation principles. Every ingredient in every formula has to earn its place.

What does liposomal delivery mean — and does it actually matter?

Liposomal delivery wraps a nutrient in a phospholipid sphere that mirrors the structure of a cell membrane, allowing it to be absorbed directly through the gut wall rather than relying on standard digestive breakdown. For fat-soluble vitamins like D, K2, and E, standard absorption is highly variable depending on dietary fat intake at the time of dosing. Liposomal forms reduce that variability — which matters most for Vitamin D, where deficiency is widespread among Indian women despite common supplementation with standard forms.

Why do you use methylfolate instead of folic acid?

Standard folic acid requires a conversion step before the body can use it. Around 10–15% of people carry a variant of the MTHFR gene that significantly impairs this conversion — meaning standard supplementation may not deliver the folate the pregnancy needs. Methylfolate bypasses that step entirely. It's the active form, directly usable regardless of genetic variants. For a nutrient this critical to neural tube development, we decided the active form wasn't optional.

What is the difference between the Prenatal and Postnatal formulas?

Both formulas share the same core micronutrient profile and quality standard. The Prenatal includes Myoinositol — particularly relevant in the preconception and early pregnancy period given the prevalence of PCOS and insulin resistance among Indian women. The Postnatal formula is calibrated to the recovery and lactation phase, where the nutritional demand profile shifts. The underlying principles — active forms, clean sourcing, transparent formulation — are identical across both.

Is it suitable for vegetarians?

Yes. It is vegetarian, including the Vitamin D3, which is Vitashine — a plant-derived cholecalciferol sourced from lichen rather than the lanolin (wool grease) used in most conventional D3 supplements.

How is this different from a regular pharmacy prenatal?

Most off-the-shelf prenatals are built around Western reference ranges and use cheaper, harder-to-absorb forms of nutrients. Ours are calibrated to what Indian women actually need, use active, bioavailable forms, carry no unnecessary fillers, and disclose every ingredient and its source in full — right down to where it comes from.

What is not in your formulas?

We leave out what does not earn its place — unnecessary fillers, binders and artificial colours. Every ingredient in every formula has a defined role, and we disclose each one, its chemical form and its source in full.

Safety & usage

Are these safe to take throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Yes. Every formula is created by doctors and dosed to ICMR-NIN reference ranges for Indian women, in clean, bioavailable forms. As with any supplement during pregnancy or lactation, we recommend keeping your doctor in the loop on everything you are taking.

Are there any side effects?

Our formulas are generally well tolerated. As with any supplement, some people notice mild digestive changes when they first start — taking your dose with food usually settles this. If you experience anything that concerns you, stop and speak with your doctor.

How should I store it?

Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the lid closed between uses. As with all supplements, store it out of the reach of children.

Will it upset my stomach?

We formulated it to be kind to a sensitive stomach, which is one of the most common complaints during pregnancy. Taking it with food helps. If you are in the thick of morning sickness, taking it with your largest, settled meal of the day usually works best.

Can I take it alongside my other supplements or medication?

In most cases yes, but every pregnancy is different. If you are already on prescribed supplements or medication, we always recommend checking with your doctor so your overall intake stays balanced and right for you.

Quality & sourcing

How do you verify the quality of what goes into each formula?

Each ingredient supplier is evaluated against identity, purity, and quality standards before onboarding. Finished products are reviewed against specification before release. We document ingredient identity, chemical form, and supplier provenance for every formulation — the same information is available in the ingredient detail view on our science page.

Who formulates your products?

Natal & Her was founded by doctors, and every formula is created by doctors — built from clinical practice and the realities Indian women actually face, not from a generic global template.
